I’m running a virtual PC under Windows 7 and wanted to simulate a situation 3 months ago – resetting time in the VPC to a former date did not work. It was reset every 10 seconds or so.

After making sure that automatic time sync in the Virtual PC itself was switched off (third page in the time setting dialog) and disabling the W32time service, time was still reset to the current date and time.

I found a hint saying that you have to add some lines to your .vmc file but that did not work either. Another hint stated that this works only for Virtual Server, not Virtual PC.

What finally did the trick was stopping the “Virtual PC Integration component service” that of course controls also other features, but at least for the time being the time stays where it is supposed to…

have fun
